To answer your question, yes you should be able to edit your own blog.
As far as making friends, go out and post a link to your blog in every forum you can think of. You will definitely get hits that way. Simply go to your blogs home page where all you posts are listed, an then select the entire url in the address bar. That is your link and you can post it on other sites, email to friends, or whatever to attract visitors to your blog and out site.

Okay. I just succeeded in confusing myself again. I thought we were able to add friends to our profile area already.
